LYMESTONE COWBOY -9th SEPT
Join us at Lymestone Brewery in Stone for our last sportive of 2018!
Full Pint, or swift half, it’s up to you.
Our traditional end of season social, the Lymestone Cowboy, has had a bit of a revamp for 2018.
Included as always is the pre-ride breakfast and the post ride beer, but instead of a gentle potter, this years ride is more of a challenge with a route that heads north from Lymestone Brewery and (for the long route) stops off at the northernmost outpost of the Lymestone empire, the Quiet Woman pub in Leek.
The long route is 63 miles, the shorter one 38.2miles.
The further north you go in Staffordshire, the hillier it gets and we’ve got some great climbs for you to triumph over along both routes for this ride.
The first half of the route is characterised by longer climbs, the longest of which is the long drag from Froghall through Ipstones. That’s followed by the legendary Gun Hill, used in the Tour of Britain and it’s Tour Ride sister sportive on a number of occasions. After that, you’ll be glad of a well earned rest and snack at the Quiet Woman in Leek before tackling the second half.
The highest summit on the second half of your ride is barely half the height of Gun Hill, but what the route lacks in height, it makes up for in frequency with a succession of climbs that will have you gasping…which is good news as there’s a beer on the bar with your name on it when you get back to the brewery!
