2010 Stafford Grand Prix

The first RideStaffs event

Back in 2010 we organised the first ever RideStaffs event, but it wasn’t a sportive. And we weren’t even called RideStaffs, but it’s the start of the journey to where we are today.

At the time of that first event I was just starting my company Leadout, having left my previous role at the Tour of Britain a year before and filled the spell in between doing various freelance jobs in the cycling world.

That first event was supported by a handful of local businesses including local bike shops Henry Burton and Mammoth as well as the Lewis Partnership who were the owners of the Swan Hotel at the time.

Our race was part of that year’s British Cycling national circuit race series and as such attracted a great field including the best British teams of the time.

On the night the race was won by multi Olympic gold medalist Ed Clancy OBE with a roll call of the top British professional riders of the time trailing in his wake.
